Testing ScribeFire

Looks pretty damn neat.  Not sure if it is better than Live Writer.  Can insert images.  Ad's, video.  I think live writer will win out with the new additions to subtext.

Sprint Touch & Invisible Shield vs BoxWave

I've had a Sprint Touch since the beginning of December.  At first I loved it.  I could do so much.  And was so customizable.  That was probably the best thing and worst.  I always wanted to try new things.  Sometimes it messed up my phone.  Of course Windows Mobile had it's quirks.  But overall I liked it.  Until ActiveSync started going screwy on me.  Then the hardware button on my phone died.  I was not happy.  Luckily it didn't cost too much to get it replaced from Sprint.  And shortly after that Sprint and HTC released Windows Mobile 6.1...

Repairing an eMachines M6709 LCD screen

Here is a picture of my broken LCD screen.  It happened because I left my laptop on the shoulder of the couch and let in a crazy dog.  She tore down the hall, leaped from almost literally 6 feet away, and landed on the couch.  I have hardwood floors so the couch slid back until it hit the wall.  Unfortunately my laptop obeyed the laws of physics and stayed put, then fell on the floor. So  I searched for a new screen.  Brand new they were about $160.  I Ebayed mine and found a used one for $50...

Neverwhere

Neverwhere: A Novel by Neil Gaiman Read more about this book... I was given this book to read by someone who generally doesn't read fantasy.  That is what you would have to call this book.  Not a fantasy in a...

Change, I hate it

I really dislike change.  I don't like having any in my pockets.  So when I get home I usually throw it in my horizontal filing cabinet( my kitchen table ).  Eventually it finds it's way to a old change jar that looks like a coke bottle.  Well it has been a few years since I've done anything with my change.  I decided to gather up all my change from the random locations it was strewn about and turn it in at the bank.  Thankfully they have one of those machines that sorts it for you.  Fifteen minutes later I have...

Bud Light Chelada, new drink?

I like trying new drinks.  I was at the store Friday and saw Bud Light had this in the aisle, the front said "with lime and salt" and looked fruity to me.  So I decided to try it.  It comes in 16oz 4 packs, I was hoping it was going to be like the Miller Ultra Light new flavors.      Well home I get and I crack a can open.  Of course I didn't smell it, just took a swig and nearly puked all over my kitchen.  I ran to the sink and proceeded to rinse my mouth out...

Windows Live Writer

Well I'm going to try out the Windows Live Writer and see how it works with my blog.  So far it looks neat, but seems a tad Picasa Content slow.   It has some neat plugins too, like insert Picasa link, and insert from Visual Studio.  So let's see how this works.  Well here is a map inserted.  It opened up a cool window with Microsoft Virtual Earth and you can enter the address and push pins onto the map.     Next we'll try a Picasa image.  That dober-beast over to the...

So we got 8-10 inches of snow Saturday night.  I thought I'd play a game like Jalopnik.com does. Name the make and model of these cars. Car 1 Car 2

A reason to get an Apple

My friend got a new imac last week.  I went over his house and played with it.  Pretty neat, I do like how Apple has decent photo and movie applications on it as default.  He wanted to know how to add new widgets, so my other friend and I figured it out and found this...best widget ever! I think that widget alone would be enough reason to get a mac.  If Yahoo widgets didn't have it for windows too...here.

I know some people who need these...

From here that I get a deals RSS feed for.  I wonder if they work, or if you could change the filter so your farts smell like roses, or some other oder of your choosing.  Kind of like spritzing yourself with perfume or cologne though out the day.  A friend mentioned that they shouldn't be white, they will stain too easily.  He has a point.

Nuclear Africa?

New Scientist has an article about Africa wanting to become nuclear.  I'm not against nuclear at all, but in stable countries with nuclear generation capabilities is scary.  I seem to remember GE designing a self contained Nuke reactor for this very application.  I'll try and find a link later.  That might be an acceptable solution.  Give a poor country a contained nuke.  They can buy fuel and give back the waste.  They don't have to worry about waste and the rest of the world doesn't have to worry about some crazy despot making dirty or nuclear bombs.  Though as the...

First new post in a long time

My old version of Subtext didn't allow me to post for some reason.  And I had to move over to another server to get .NET 2.0 going for the latest version.  So this is a test post.

Networks fighting DVR's?

So I'm watching a recorded Ghost Hunters show.  And I noticed that they had a poll question during the commercial.  A online tie in and an answer later in the show.  IS this what they are doing to combat people recording the show andwatching it later?  Some type of live interaction?  I think they need more than that.  Maybe voteing with the remote.

AT&T update

Well I am really impressed with their line techs.  Those are the people who actually know something.  Not the ones you get when you first call.  I had a long chat with a line tech when the person sent out to my house didn't call me before he arrived.  I of course missed him.  But later that night AT&T ( or SBC whatever they go by now ) called me and wanted to know how things were going.  They called again Saturday to see, probably because the trouble ticket was left open.  They said they could get someone out Monday...

Sunday Drive

Well Yesterday some members of my family and I went on an impromptu motorcycle ride.  Impromptu meaning only planned a week in advance or else a lot more people would have been there.  We had 6 bikes, 8 people.  Three Harley's, my Buell, and two Honda's.  It was a very nice day for a ride.  Sunny all day, mid 60's probably.  Not too hot or too cold.  This was the longest ride and probably farthest ride I've done in one day.  I was worried about my knee hurting too much.  It was fine until the last hour.  I did...

Woot!! Treehuggers vs Car enthusiasts

As always I disagree with the majority on the TreeHugger site.  I really hate it when people put down just GM and no other car companies.  As in this thread.  Well a friend informed me that tread made it to GmInsideNews forums here.  Hopefully they will post to Treehugger and help stop some of the ignorance.  I still don't know why GM doesn't release some more hybrids though.  I forgot about the Saturn Greenline and apparently Silverado.  I don't think either are true hybrids.  But really just larger alternators to start the engine up.  I'm not positive.UPDATED

Woot New car

So I got a new car this weekend.  A 2006 Mazda 6.  I love it.  Leather, navigation, 18in rims, speedy and better mileage than my truck.  The radio is a bit weird, I wish the display was bigger or displayed on the nav lcd.  But it is still cool.  I love driving it.  I'm already looking into adding a cold air intake.  Maybe some other things as soon as I find some Mazda forums to read about what other people have done.  Later I'll look into modding the navigation software and see if it's possible.
