Here is a picture of my broken LCD screen. It happened because I left my laptop on the shoulder of the couch and let in a crazy dog. She tore down the hall, leaped from almost literally 6 feet away, and landed on the couch. I have hardwood floors so the couch slid back until it hit the wall. Unfortunately my laptop obeyed the laws of physics and stayed put, then fell on the floor. So I searched for a new screen. Brand new they were about $160. I Ebayed mine and found a used one for $50...
I really dislike change. I don't like having any in my pockets. So when I get home I usually throw it in my horizontal filing cabinet( my kitchen table ). Eventually it finds it's way to a old change jar that looks like a coke bottle. Well it has been a few years since I've done anything with my change. I decided to gather up all my change from the random locations it was strewn about and turn it in at the bank. Thankfully they have one of those machines that sorts it for you. Fifteen minutes later I have...
I like trying new drinks. I was at the store Friday and saw Bud Light had this in the aisle, the front said "with lime and salt" and looked fruity to me. So I decided to try it. It comes in 16oz 4 packs, I was hoping it was going to be like the Miller Ultra Light new flavors.
Well home I get and I crack a can open. Of course I didn't smell it, just took a swig and nearly puked all over my kitchen. I ran to the sink and proceeded to rinse my mouth out...
My cat is sleeping forever now. He passed away last night. I was home around 7 and he was fine. I came home this morning and he was cold and hard. I know it was going to happen he was freaking 19, at least. No one remembers is exact age. Hell this fall I saw him catch a chipmunk. I didn't believe it, he was old, left front paw didn't work at all and fat. I bet the chipmunk was laughing at him to hard to run.
I wrapped Bauldy in a towel, I was going to use packing tape...
Well the good news is my brakes work on my motorcycle. They work a little too good. Since I flew over the handlebars. Luckily it was right after an intersection, I was going maybe 15 mph. I looked on the side of the road to see what someone was selling and out of the corner of my eye, I see the SUV in front of me stop quickly for a car in front of it. I "panicked" and squeezed my brakes a little too hard. Considering my bike has the best brakes of all motorcycles, the damned rotor is as...
So a developer blog I read, http://www.hanselman.com is doing a diabetes fund raising walk. There has been much new diabetes based news lately too. I will have to link them later. So donate for diabetes...and for Totems new leg.
A potential new procedure for new diabetics. If this really works it could alleaviate a lot of the hassle Scott mentions in his blog post.
This type of treatment would only be effective in newly diagnosed diabetics, who still have some beta-cell function left to preserve. For patients with more-advanced forms of the disease, scientists are working on cell transplants to...
It's not even mid October and it was snowing all day today. Blizzard like. I have about an inch or two in the back yard. Ugh.
Now I don't really think you need a GPS on a motorcycle, well because there is no such thing as getting lost while riding. I do think it would be cool to track where you have ridden. Though there seems not to be a good solution to the bluetooth for helmets yet. There is the Motorola one, but why must it sit on the outside of the helmet. Isn't there an aftermarket solution that isn't visible from the outside? Or minimally visible? Guess it doesn't matter because I think this GPS will be too expensive, as usual.
Well I am really impressed with their line techs. Those are the people who actually know something. Not the ones you get when you first call. I had a long chat with a line tech when the person sent out to my house didn't call me before he arrived. I of course missed him. But later that night AT&T ( or SBC whatever they go by now ) called me and wanted to know how things were going. They called again Saturday to see, probably because the trouble ticket was left open. They said they could get someone out Monday...
Well Yesterday some members of my family and I went on an impromptu motorcycle ride. Impromptu meaning only planned a week in advance or else a lot more people would have been there. We had 6 bikes, 8 people. Three Harley's, my Buell, and two Honda's. It was a very nice day for a ride. Sunny all day, mid 60's probably. Not too hot or too cold. This was the longest ride and probably farthest ride I've done in one day. I was worried about my knee hurting too much. It was fine until the last hour. I did...
I've had XM for over a year now. I love it. I can't listen to normal radio now. I've just had a dash top unit. Now I just recently got a new car that has Sirius in it. I've only heard Sirius a few times before in a friends car. I thought I liked it better than XM, but now I don't. XM is great if you like sports. I mainly listened to the electronic station BPM and the alternative station Ethel. I really liked Ethel. I heard a lot of new songs on there. There doesn't seem to be...
So I got a new car this weekend. A 2006 Mazda 6. I love it. Leather, navigation, 18in rims, speedy and better mileage than my truck. The radio is a bit weird, I wish the display was bigger or displayed on the nav lcd. But it is still cool. I love driving it. I'm already looking into adding a cold air intake. Maybe some other things as soon as I find some Mazda forums to read about what other people have done. Later I'll look into modding the navigation software and see if it's possible.
This deivce looks cool. Looks kind of big though. I'm wondering when they are going to be in the same unit though. I thought I read somewhere that they can check glucose without blood, but I'm not sure. Hmm seems to be some things out there like that...http://www.spectrx.com/cgms.asp. My dads is some what smaller. I was amazed when I first saw his. I thought he had permanent tubes or a needle constantly in his stomach. But it is just a rubber hose that is in there, a needle like device shoots it into stomach. Kinda weird.
Well I don't have a new one yet. I kind of did a total turn around after driving the Compass. Slooowwww. Not too bad though. I wish it had a navigation option. Every car should have that option, why make me upgrade? I started leaning towards the Honda Civic. With navigation of course, but it has no leather option. Apparently I could get it installed after market. I had two different Honda dealers pricemy truck as trade in....Crap of course. They tried to way undercut me. I laughed at them. To bad I don't have any leverage since they are...
I test drove them all yesterday. I'm looking to trade in my truck, gas is too expensive. Too bad I really want the Magnum with the Hemi. It drives awesome and is a really good deal since it is 2005. From what I could tell the MPG is all over the place, people post very different numbers. But anything averaging over 15.7 is better than my truck. It drives nice, plenty of power when you need it. It is very comfortable too. The Jeep Compass looks pretty neat. I think the Dodge Caliber looks nicer though. The one I drove...
Well I somehow got into my head I want a new car. I have a 2001 Dodge Dakota now. Not exactly fuel efficient. And I wanted to get rid of it while I still can. Meaning I could trade it in for more than what I owe. I really like the ugly little Dodge Caliber. So I went in today to see if they had any. Nope I guess they sell the day they get them. Crud. So I test a Magnum with a HEMI. DAAAMN its nice and fast. But I can't afford one now, maybe used though.... Well...
So somehow I read about the Shangri-La diet. I was looking for cheap, easy non-boxed diets for lunch at work and home. I want to start eating better. I found the claims pretty amazing and so simple. Of course I was skeptical, who wouldn't be? So I decided to try it out. At first I just bought some extra light olive oil and took a teaspoon of that. I decided to buy the book and read it to make sure I was doing it right. I wasn't, it should have been a...
