Banks

They tend to kick a man when down.  It's not that I'm hurting for money but I manage it like crap.  And it seems a ton of bills come though when my money is low.  Sooo I get hit and every time a bill comes in and I have no money in the account I get charge $25.  Hello how is that helping?  Oh you have no money so we will charge you some more.  Thanks, MSUFCU.  Also why do electronic transfers take a few days to come through?  If mine took a few seconds, like it should, then there...

How much does a clean conscience cost?

In this case about $300.  My cat Bauldy, aka Butthead, had to go to the vet.  His front right leg was all swollen.  About twice normal size.  His left foot is already gimped, probably from the dogs.  He is almost 19 years old.  I could have left him and let nature take its course.  But if he was in pain or something I'd feel bad.  Of course the vet suggested a xray so he could really tell what was going on.  More money...  Results in, and he has some kind of cat degenerative heart disease.  Something myopia.  Basically his heart...

Pride and Pocketbook

Well the good news is my brakes work on my motorcycle.  They work a little too good.  Since I flew over the handlebars.  Luckily it was right after an intersection, I was going maybe 15 mph.  I looked on the side of the road to see what someone was selling and out of the corner of my eye, I see the SUV in front of me stop quickly for a car in front of it.  I "panicked" and squeezed my brakes a little too hard.  Considering my bike has the best brakes of all motorcycles, the damned rotor is as...

Are we teaching our kids to steal and discriminate?

Are we teaching kids today how to steal and discriminate?  Look at many of the cereal commercials, Trix, Lucky Charms, Cookie Crisp, Coco Puffs, Flintstones, all have characters that are trying to steal the cereal from someone and keeping it away from someone.  "Silly Rabbit, Trix are for kids!", "Someone Stole my Lucky Charms", etc etc.  Heck even the waffle business is getting into it, "Leggo my Eggo"  I should say have been in the business of indoctrinating theft if discriminated against, I remember similar commercials as a kid. Are there deeper meanings to these commercials?  Is someone really out...

The hipocracy of fighting pollution.

Well on Hugg I found this link.  http://blogger.xs4all.nl/marcg/archive/2007/01/09/171574.aspx  A quite annoying tactic for sure.  I would not like someone putting anything on my car.  The ironic thing is that they are protesting a petroleum product, gas.  Yet they are making pollution buy the exploding balloons.  Originally I thought the balloons were made from petroleum also, but I guess they are latex or rubber.  Either way it is ironic that it is OK to pollute if you are protesting pollution.

Is getting rid of your TV better than watching shows on the computer?

So this blog has a post about getting rid of cable service and the TV.  It mentions how you can get your fix by other means.  It's definitely informing, but some of the reasons behind why they are attempting to not use the tv just gets to me.  The main reason is to save money.  That's a good reason, but then it goes on to this.  "Practice what I’m about to teach you and you’ll save money, save electricity, save time, and be exposed less to the mass consumerism society forces through our eyeballs."Save money, sure.  Save electricity?  Doubtful.  Even...

Treehuggers yet again

First of I know I'm an ass when posting, I don't deny that.  Nor do I hide my identity when I do.  Some people are cowards and assholes.  Like this Anonymous guy in this thread on Treehugger.  Talk about an elitist asshole.  In my eyes he is just as bad as me or worse.  But they think they are in the right.  I post my opinions and emotions and so does that coward, yet doesn't admit he is being immature also.  Damn I hate the Internet for it's anonymity.  Now if it were just me and the coward bickering back...

recycled content garbage bags

They really kind of suck.  I bought 80% recycled kitchen garbage bags.  Besides being twice as expensive they are really thin.  Thinner than the grocery bags I get from the store.  That means not very strong.  I about lost all my garbage today trying to take it out.  If your going to make me pay twice as much at least make then decent.  Why is trying to be a little more environmentally conscious suck so much and is so expensive?

New Forum

Well I decided to start a new forum with an environmental twist here.  I posted it on hugg and minutes later someone else posts a new forum too.  Same software even.  Now with my luck of course his gets more Huggs than mine and more traffic.  Ugh oh well I knew I had bad luck starting up forums.  I guess that's what I get for clashing with everyone.

AT&T update

Well I am really impressed with their line techs.  Those are the people who actually know something.  Not the ones you get when you first call.  I had a long chat with a line tech when the person sent out to my house didn't call me before he arrived.  I of course missed him.  But later that night AT&T ( or SBC whatever they go by now ) called me and wanted to know how things were going.  They called again Saturday to see, probably because the trouble ticket was left open.  They said they could get someone out Monday...

Lying to Tech Support

A few weeks ago I switched from a local provider DSL to AT&T DSL.  I thought service would be better and it was cheaper for a little while.  Right from the get go I've had problems.  First I could not hook up, the modem would never connect.  After a week they got off their ass and figured it out.  Then I was getting disconnected, someone came out and they found out my switching station had some problems.  Then it still didn't work right.  So they made appointment to come out and look at it.  They were suppose to come inside,...

Woot!! Treehuggers vs Car enthusiasts

As always I disagree with the majority on the TreeHugger site.  I really hate it when people put down just GM and no other car companies.  As in this thread.  Well a friend informed me that tread made it to GmInsideNews forums here.  Hopefully they will post to Treehugger and help stop some of the ignorance.  I still don't know why GM doesn't release some more hybrids though.  I forgot about the Saturn Greenline and apparently Silverado.  I don't think either are true hybrids.  But really just larger alternators to start the engine up.  I'm not positive.UPDATED

Golden Rule Health Insurance = teh crap

So I need health insurance and was pointed towards Golden Rule Insurance.  I should have been tipped off by their hideous website.  It looks like the info pages were a straight cut and paste form their brochure.  I bet they used Adobe to create the HTML.  I decided to try anyway.  Their application process is painful.  Beyond the standard who are you and where do you live things, they ask if you have ever been to the doctor in the last 10 years.  Ten years!!!  Holy crap.  Well of course I have.  Then they want you to list absolutely everything...

ugh treehuggers again

Why dwell on things like this... http://www.treehugger.com/files/2006/08/the_ronald_mchu.php  Who cares what McDonald's sells in their Happy meal.  And then in the comments ignorant statements like "driving hummers supports questionable regimes"  Please.  Apparently they don't know where we get most of your oil from.  Here too.  I hate that argument, it is so ignorant.  Trying to appeal to patriotism. And yet again with the crazy talk...http://www.hugg.com/story/ooops-there-goes-another-rubber-tree-plant/

I hate environmentalists

So I started posting over at www.hugg.com.  A neat Digg like site for environmental stuff.  Well I've come to realize that many environmentalists are complete freaks and conspiracy nut jobs.  No wonder why environmentalists are thought of in a bad light.  Well generally speaking.  Take this post on Hugg... http://www.hugg.com/story/Chemtrails-Climate-Control-Conspiracy/ WTF?  contrails are now chemtrails?  I suppose that is somewhat right.  It does have some CO2 and NOx in it plus particulates.  But I don't think that's what they mean.  I think they are saying someone is dropping something from high altitudes down on us.  Which to me doesn't...

I hate Mac users

I suppose Windows and Linux users and any other OS fans are just as bad.  Look at this post: http://www.engadget.com/2006/08/03/gone-in-60-seconds-macbook-security-flaw-exposed/ I don't know or care if the internal card is vulnerable too.  But all the rapid mac fans must state that they used a 3rd party device and its not Apples fault.  Umm hello so what.  Every PC is a third party device to Windows, Windows does not make hardware, well windows branded PC's at least.  Yet if this were run on a windows machine everyone would be blaming Windows and Microsoft.   Even Apple outsources their components.  In my opinion Apple make...

Damn it's hot

My home central air is about 25 years old and will not get the house below 78 degrees.  And seems to cost me a fortune in electricity.  So I bought a window AC unit.  A 12,000 BTU one.  Says it will do a 550 sq ft.  So have my house.  It does, it cools the living room well, but not the rooms so much, I kinda expected that.  And fans blowing air in doesn't seem to be doing all that well either.  Oh well.  I also saw a same rated unit for $50 cheaper at another store    Oh well...

Ars technica - Soap box

So a few weeks ago they opened up the forums.  Ars-Soap Box  For some reason they are pay to post.  I guess to weed out the cheap ass's, or more likely to weed out the so called trolls.  The funny thing is that many of the suscribers seem like trolls, but its ok because they paid.  I of course jumped right in and posted away.  Lots of posts.  In fact too many.  I don't know how some of these people respond to every thread, it moves faster than I'm used to.  I'm not so sure I like it there.  Too...

.NET vs PHP, I agree with this guy...

I found his site from http://wwww.haacked.com because he made a cool new skin for subtext.  I like reading his stuff the, post on Blinq was good.  I didn't really know what it did before that.  But I really do agree with his thoughts on .NET vs PHP.  Of course I've always hated PHP.http://timheuer.com/blog/archive/2006/06/15/12658.aspx

a New Flood

I had a new Flood in my kitchen Sunday.  From a clogged pipe.  I started to do laundry and my great basement plumbing, consisting of my tub draining into my sump well and then the sump pump draining it up and out.  Well I mentioned the clog, and it didn't get past it.  Didn't go into the bath tub because there is a check valve there.  So it went all the way back to the kitchen sink.  And I was playing my game.  So I didn't hear water dripping everywhere.  By the time I did the sink was full...

Damn Dogs

Well for one since the ground is frozen the monster dogs don't track in mud all over.  So that's one reason.   The other still has to do with frozen ground.  And since it is frozen he stupid fat little girl pictured can't dig under the fence.  I get home today and notice my invisible fence is beeping, telling me that there is a break in the line.  Sure enough when I walk into the yard I see evidence of an escape.   She was tunneling into my neighbors yard.  He must have caught or stopped her and plugged the hole with a...

Houses suck

So I woke up today and walked into the kitchen and stepped into a flood.  My sink over flowed.  How you ask?  Well it started 2 weeks ago.  My basement has no plumbing under the floor.  My main drain is about halfway up the wall.  So instead of getting a separate sump container or utility pump for the utility tub and washing machine the previous owner just dumped everything into the sump well, then attacted the sump to the kitchen sink drain.  Well my sump pump finally died after who know's how many years.  So I buy a new one,...
