I had a new Flood in my kitchen Sunday. From a clogged pipe. I started to do laundry and my great basement plumbing, consisting of my tub draining into my sump well and then the sump pump draining it up and out. Well I mentioned the clog, and it didn't get past it. Didn't go into the bath tub because there is a check valve there. So it went all the way back to the kitchen sink. And I was playing my game. So I didn't hear water dripping everywhere. By the time I did the sink was full and the floor had about an inch of water on it. All dripping into the cupboards, and down into the basement.
Well I cleaned the floor up with the shop vac, about 16 gallons I'd say. And let it sit, i was too ticked to do anything else and I wanted the sink to drain a little. It never did, I had a super clog.
So later I decide to unclog it. It is between the bath tub and toilet. The toilet works the bath tub doesn't drain. Apparently this was a problem before because just after the tub check valve(which must have been put there because it all came into the tub) there is a clean-out Y. I plugged the kitchen sink to keep that water there. But there still is a whole lot of line filled with water that could come out that clean-out. I was literally scared. I mean cold sweat, fast heart beat, everything. I kept envisioning that plug to pop off, hit me in the face and then a ton of nasty water pouring all over me and the basement. What made it scarier is that it kept releasing pressure from the pipe out, and it bubbled and leaked. There is some nasty shit colored stuff all around the outside too. Could be shit for all I know. I think the pressure was because I had taken the shop vac, converted ti to blow and tried blowing down the drain to hopefully force the water down. I did end up draining about 5 gallons of water from that clean-out Y. I then easily used the snake and unclogged the drain. I hate dirty water. This wasn't even toilet water, mostly laundry water and the nasty stuff that is always on the bottom of the sum well. Ugh. I'm still cleaning my cupboards out.
